THE DADA NOUVEAU SOCIETY
A CREATIVE COMMUNITY
of humans being

WHAT IS THE DADA NOUVEAU SOCIETY?
Despite the fancy name and our founder's love of diving deep into Art History, we're just a small group of friends who like to share our lives through creative expression and open, authentic, curious communication. We value physical human contact and socializing, and want to reduce the interference of tech, media, and AI on our personal developments and relationships.
We want to build a world of beauty, joy, and creativity with our personal lives that will be there to support us through the challenges of the 21st century.
Whether we are professional artists, amateurs, beginners, hobbyists, or don't have a single creative bone in our body, we create a space to lay down the pressure of hustle and production for a few hours, and just be ourselves so we can have a better time being with each other. We bring our arts back into our free social space for all to enjoy.
THE DADA NOUVEAU SOCIETY MEETINGS
(age 18+, English language)
Meetings are participant-driven, centered on physical presence and creative self-expression. We focus on activities such as:
-
Returning to embodied and present human communities and reducing the use of technology in socializing
-
Discussing the artistic and cultural movements that influence us (like Dada and Art Nouveau!)
-
Sharing our art, poetry, music, dance, and other creative expressions
-
Sharing our personal histories, creative and transformative experiences
-
Discussing cultural shifts, expectations, and migration
-
Exploring our tensions around political and cultural conflicts, traumas, and displacements
-
Opening up about physical and mental health struggles, diagnosis, journeys, and healing
-
Spirituality, metaphysical experiences, meditation
-
Collaborative art and musical projects
-
Expression through costumes and wearable art
-
Improvised dance, sound poetry, somatic exercises
-
You don't have to be an artistic person: conversation is a social art too! But you're going to be most comfortable with a curious and open mind, and an appreciation of art, psychology, and philosophy.
-
We also share songs, poems, literature, and art by others, credited to the best of our ability, which resonate with us and our discussions
-
We make every effort to avoid AI-generated content, in both creativity and discussion
Various sessions may lean heavier on deep discussions, information-sharing, or art, music, and performance; it all depends on the interests of the participants, and the space, time, and noise restrictions of our meeting places.
CORE VALUES AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES
-
We believe in the physical, psychological, and social importance of real human presence.
-
We believe in and strive to practice authenticity of our selves while setting healthy boundaries, and respecting others’ authentic selves and boundaries.
-
We strive to be curious rather than judgmental.
-
We prioritize human function, creativity, and intellect over technology and Artificial Intelligence, and encourage messy human failures over artificial perfection.
-
We believe community and relationships are human rights that should not have to be paid for.
The Dada Nouveau Society is a small personal community currently being developed in Budapest, Hungary. It is an in-person experience by private invitation, from local word-of-mouth, and participating venues.
