Behind every drug and vaccine credited for saving your life, is a back-end server. A person, not just a device. Working to the bone to make sure the data gets compiled, the measurements stay calibrated, and the assembly line rolls without fatal errors.
Behind every government announcement, news report, public update, registration, test result, and contact tracing, there’s a back-end server. A person, not just a device. Working to the bone to make sure you have access to the information needed to stay safe and stay alive.
Behind every take-out order, virtual classroom, virtual doctor’s visit, virtual baby shower and virtual funeral, is a back-end server. A person, not just a device. Working to the bone to make sure there’s a society to get back to.
The front-line heroes in our modern world literally could not do what they do without the back-end heroes. Yet the enormous pressure and weight of the entire world that rests on their fingertips is going unseen and unappreciated, every single day.
I’d ask them to come up for a standing ovation, but if they left their windowless noisy server rooms or keyboards for just a minute, your entire world would collapse.
They literally have the power to turn it all off.
Remind them why they’re keeping it on.
